re-homing. Please contact these places or look on their website to make sure the donation you are planning is still accepted.

Animal shelters (SPCA, Animal Lifeline, etc.) – will accept clean sheets, towels, and blankets. Full sets are not required.
Project Smile – projectsmile.org. Collects stuffed animals for emergency responders to give to children in the aftermath of fires, accidents, or natural disasters.
Soles4Souls – soles4souls.org. Provides shoes to people in need, worldwide. Enter ZIP code to find a collection site near you.
The Joy of Sox – joyofsox.org. Provides new socks for the homeless.
Lions Clubs – lionsclubs.org. Eyeglass donations.
Musicopia.net. For use in their music programs in city and local schools, particularly in underprivileged areas where music programs have been cut. They accept instruments that might need repair, too. Contact: firstname.lastname@example.org
